Club members spent the afternoon at Evergreen Golf Course to support the Elkhorn Booster Club golf outing on Friday, July 18, 2025. Rotarians contributed over $3,500 to help the Boosters and earn money for our annual high school scholarships.
A big thank you to all of our hole sponsors and golfers for making the day successful. An extra-special thank you to Ted Johnson for organizing our participation, and to Bill Campbell, Mariann Hunter, and Tom Oehler for helping with setup. See you again next year!

Wills & Trusts 101
Attorney Ward Phillips spoke at the Wednesday, July 16, 2025 meeting on the importance of after-life planning using wills and trusts. We learned the differences between the four main types, the importance of communicating our wishes with family members, and received estate planning basics. He made a normally somber topic entertaining and reminded members not to wait on planning because you never know when it will be needed.

The Board approved the club's 2025/26 budget at their monthly meeting on July 16, along with the increase of our quarterly dues to reflect the district and international increases. Beginning October 2025, Rotary Club of Elkhorn dues will increase to $60 per quarter. 1st Quarter dues invoices are due by July 31 - please speak to Treasurer Chris Clapper if you did not receive your invoice, have questions, or would like to discuss a payment plan.
After Karen's appeal, the Club voted to move forward the 2025 12 Days of Christmas raffle. Details and tickets coming this Fall.
Our Operation Warm Coats program is getting a new name! It will be referred to as Elkhorn Rotary Coats for Kids moving forward.
Shelly & Eric Higgins reported that they donated all $559 of their 2025 Ribfest VIP Pit tips to the Coats for Kids Program! Thank you so much, Shelly & Eric!!!
The Geneva Lakes West (Darien-Delavan satellite club) needs help with their September 20, 2025 Artisan Festival. Craft vendors, sponsors, food trucks, raffle items, and volunteers are all needed! Email Katie James at elkhornrotarypresident@gmail.com for details and forms.

Let's Help Build A Community! Rotary Habitat Team Build Scheduled for August 23
The Rotary Club of Elkhorn is answering the call for volunteers to assist the Habitat for Humanity in Walworth County! 12 volunteers are needed to help with their 2025 Home Build in Pell Lake for the day on August 23, 2025.
No construction experience is necessary - Just a caring heart and willingness to work! Spouses and families 16+ are welcome, and boxed lunches will be provided by the Club. Rotary raises almost $4,000 each year by parking cars near the Walworth County Fairgrounds from August 27-September 1, 2025! Sign-ups to volunteer for two-hour shifts at the Elkhorn Teen Center parking lot is now open. It's an easy and fun way to spend time outdoors helping out our club!
The Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) recognition was established in 1957 by The Rotary Foundation to honor individuals who contribute, or have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 or more to the Foundation.
Named after Rotary’s founder, Paul Harris, the PHF quickly became a symbol of commitment to Rotary’s humanitarian and educational programs.
Initially, it aimed to encourage Rotarians to support the Foundation financially.
Over time, clubs also began using the PHF to recognize outstanding service, leadership, or dedication to Rotary ideals, even among non-Rotarians.
Recipients receive a certificate, a lapel pin, and often a medallion.
Multiple contributions are marked with sapphire or ruby stones on the pin.
Today, millions of Paul Harris Fellowships have been awarded worldwide, making it one of the most recognized honors in Rotary.
It reflects both the donor’s generosity and the recipient’s alignment with Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self.”
