Birthday wishes to Chad Robinson, who celebrated his birthday April 10th! Sgt-at-Arms, Karen, reviewed for us our Rotary years from 2003-2005. Mark your calendars for Bryan’s Installation as President - June 19th – there will be a picnic at John Henderson’s lake house. More information to be shared as that date nears. The Rotary’s 50 years May 4th Festival preparations are continuing to move along. There will be 15 food trucks there, and more on a waiting list. If anyone is aware of any more non-profits that may like to have a booth on ‘Rotary Way’, please refer them. Jordan mentioned that volunteers are still needed in many areas, so please sign up and help out in any way that you can. Don’t forget to RSVP for the Gala on Friday, May 3rd. Sara and Brian will be reenacting their dance from the Dancing for a New Beginning event that night! AC, our exchange student from Denmark, joined us for lunch, along with her parents Christina and Michael. She is now on her third family, staying with the Wheelers. She joined them on their Spring Break vacation to Florida, where she was able to enjoy the Disney resorts. She also shared that she is a member of Elkhorn’s Prom Court and has been attending dance rehearsals for Prom this coming Saturday (4/13). Christina thanked the club for the kindness and support that has been provided to AC during her time here in Elkhorn. Our speaker, Pam Patterson with the Agape House for girls in Walworth WI, shared information on their services. The house serves numerous girls from the surrounding communities that may be struggling with behavioral and/or emotional issues that are negatively impacting their day-to-day lives and relationships. The house provides mentorship/counseling/parental support for families, offers day programs for the girls, and offers a residential program, where some girls live at the house full-time. They provide a ‘wrap-around’ service that, besides working with the entire family, focuses on five key components with the girls: physical, behavioral, spiritual, academia, and life skills. Pam’s guest, Haley, who is currently living at the Agape House, shared how the Agape House has positively impacted her life and her relationships with loved ones. The non-profit is in the process of renovating a new property, closely located to the current house, and plans to open a boy’s home in the fall. If anyone who knows of any contractors, i.e. electricians, plumbers, etc., that may be interested in helping, they can contact the Agape House directly.
