Program – Club Assembly

Kids from Wisconsin – Connie and Zoe Gatz presented information regarding the Kids from Wisconsin performance group. Connie is an Elkhorn resident and past “kids” parent, and Zoe was a past participant in 2016. Connie thanked the Rotary for their sponsorship for the local upcoming performance on August 18th.  Elkhorn will have two teenagers in the show this year.  Elkhorn youth Charlie Cantral and Nathan Huberty are participating. In all, there are 35 troop members this year.  Students aged 16 – 20 are able to participate.

As Kids from Wisconsin prepare for the season, they have 17 days in which they learn the songs / dances and produce a show.  The Kids from Wisconsin travel throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois.  Most of the performances are fundraisers.

Beyond saying thank you for the sponsorship, they wanted to let us know that they will help with fundraising efforts.  Our venue for the August performance can seat 800. During their upcoming visit in August, the Kids from Wisconsin will also perform outreach by working with the youth of our community during the afternoon by working with them to enhance their musical talents and abilities.  Elkhorn presently has the most student participation in the state for the outreach activities.

Meals on Wheels Information:  Service Project
Ann Prince and Colleen Lesniak met with the Rotary Club to share information regarding the Meals on Wheels Program.  Our club has volunteered to assist with “Route B” on Thursdays and Fridays; every six weeks.  Sedge Meadow Apartments is where the food / resources are picked up.  Ring doorbells to enter.  There are typically two meal bags that carry the heated portion of the meal, as well as a container for other items (milk or juice).  White bags carry the beverages. A binder provides special instructions for meal distribution.  It also includes a roster for delivery and directions to homes.

IF a participant is not home, you should try to call them on the phone.  IF the home is accessible and you can announce yourself to make them aware you are there – and carefully enter the home.  Please call the main office to make sure that person may have canceled their order.  If you encounter a person in danger, please call 911 and stay with the person.

Return all bags to Sedge Meadows.  Drop off begins at 11:00, so volunteers need to arrive just before 11:00.  The route will take approximately 1 hour.  Working in teams of two may be helpful.  Tim Brellenthin will be preparing our Rotary schedule for delivery.
