Program – Dave Bretl, Walworth County Administrator
Kathy Hanssen provided the Secretary announcement. She noted Chris Clapper is celebrating her 10th Rotary Anniversary this month. New member Jacob helped with attendance. Guests included Shawn Levitt, Remax; Vern, Elkhorn Public Works; and Dave Bretl, program speaker.
Announcements: Kurt handed out tickets for the Shenanigans event (Friday, March 6th @ Monte Carlo Room). The expectations is that each Rotary member pays for 2 tickets ($25/each) and helps sell more for a successful event. President Bryan announced at Club Assembly (1/22.2020) we will be installing new members. Also at the next club meeting, he and President-elect Jordan will be facilitating an exercise to identify future club leaders.
Brag Bucks:
Kurt presented a check to President Bryan from the Stir It Up event for the amount of $20,521. Congratulations on the dedicated efforts to all.
Dawn announced she will be moving to Minnesota on/around the end of January. This is the follow up to her marriage in December and working full time with Join the Movement, the mission to end human trafficking.
Program: Dave Bretl shared he will be retiring as the County Administrator in a few weeks. He noted his first speech to public civic groups as a County Administrator was in 2001 and it was to the Elkhorn Rotary Club. Now in 2020, his last speech was also to the Elkhorn Rotary Club. Mark Luberta has been selected to fill the role. Mr. Luberta resides in Williams Bay and has been serving as the Administrator for Franklin, Wisconsin. Handouts were given and booklets on the state of the county are available at the County office. The topics of the discussion included the State of the County for (1) Financial Position, (2) Economic Recovery, and (3) Challenges for Future. Most notable was that of the debt-free infrastructure situation to be the only county in that position. There is a large communications project coming up that will cost approximately $23M that may require to borrow.
