Dawn Heath announced that the Board of Directors approved the purchase of a “Rotary table” at the Gala for Safe Families for Children that will be held on November 29 at the Grand Geneva. There is room for eight people to attend.
Julie Cotter talked about Stir It Up which will be held on November 4. All the restaurants that participated last year are returning and they added Stillwater Coffee Company. There are two high schools providing music at the event. They have collected $15,850 in sponsorships so far. Rotary has committed to selling lots of tickets!
Ward Phillips thanked the Rotarians who parked cars at the Flea Market last Sunday and had to deal with the new fencing situation.
Isaac Taylor spoke to the group to thank us for supporting his Eagle Scout project which is providing ten benches for the outdoor classroom at the Elkhorn Middle School.
Jamie Stilling-Stepp addressed the group to tell us about Seeds of Hope. (www.seedsofhopewi.org) They are located on Potter Road in Elkhorn and provide support to families, schools and group homes for the developmentally disabled. They provide full and half-day events and opportunities at their garden, greenhouse and Family Fun Nights that give young adults a purpose, work to do, and a sense of community. They have three part-time staff and want to expand to allow more group visits. They are accepting donations for their ongoing expenses related to their garden, greenhouse and family fun nights.
