Elkhorn Rotary Help is Heading to Texas!
Club members answered the call to help Central Texas District 5840 with the weekly donations collected in our July bucket, as well as direct donations made by many members, to assist with flood relief efforts. In total, bucket donations totaled $734!
Our final collection on July 23 was made extra special thanks to Bill, who auctioned off a pair of his pre-season Packers tickets for the pot too. Eric was the big winner with a $200 donation and is heading to Lambeau for his FIRST Packers game!!! Thanks to all for participating and contributing to the cause.

Teronomy Builders Project Manager Paul Van Henkelum and CFO Tom Larson attended the Wednesday, July 23, 2025 meeting to share details on their new 770-apartment complex being constructed south of Elkhorn between the DMV and Durham Bus Company. Paul gave lots of details about the complex's amenities, plans for the commercial space at the front facing Lincoln Street (Kwik Trip! Maybe daycare too) and said that construction of the first two apartment buildings, clubhouse, and roadway will begin this Fall.
Rent is anticipated to range from $1,400-$2,200 for the one-to-three bedroom apartments, which includes access to the neighborhood amenities like the fitness center, pickleball courts, and pool, and security, underground parking, high-speed internet and cable. OFFSITE MEETING ALERT: The Wednesday, August 20 meeting will be held at Elkhorn Area High School for a guided tour of the Career and Technical Education wing by Principal Dan Kiel. 11:30-1:00pm.
The Membership Committee will meet next on July 31 at 9:00am at Ted's office at 354 Seymour Court in Elkhorn. Anyone interested is welcome to attend!
Let's Help Build A Community! Rotary Habitat Team Build Scheduled for August 23
The Rotary Club of Elkhorn is answering the call for volunteers to assist the Habitat for Humanity in Walworth County! 12 volunteers are needed to help with their 2025 Home Build in Pell Lake for the day on August 23, 2025.
No construction experience is necessary - Just a caring heart and willingness to work! Spouses and families 16+ are welcome, and boxed lunches will be provided by the Club. We're about 2/3 full of volunteers! Rotary raises almost $4,000 each year by parking cars near the Walworth County Fairgrounds from August 27-September 1, 2025! Sign-ups to volunteer for two-hour shifts at the Elkhorn Teen Center parking lot is now open. It's an easy and fun way to spend time outdoors helping out our club!
One of Rotary’s most vibrant traditions is the exchange of club banners.
These decorative banners, often displayed at meetings and district events, are carried by Rotarians traveling abroad to exchange with other clubs.
Typically, the banners feature symbols or artistic elements that represent the club’s town, region, or national culture, including handcrafted touches like embroidery, weaving, or painting.
Many of these banners are considered artworks in their own right.
The tradition grew so popular that, in 1959, the Rotary International Board of Directors advised clubs to exercise moderation, fearing that the exchanges could become financially burdensome.
Despite this, the tradition continues today as a meaningful expression of goodwill and international friendship among Rotary members.
The Rotary archives now hold around 20,000 banners, each one reflecting a club’s local pride and the strong global ties of the Rotary organization.
This exchange practice remains a cherished symbol of unity and mutual respect.
