Rotary has six causes they support- promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, supporting education, growing local economies, and saving mothers and children. Right now, 50% of money raised goes for district designated funds (DDF) and 50% to the World Fund. 1,260 global grants have been approved. $140.1 million is given to the Annual Fund. Countless lives are changed and there is a big impact to many people by buying $10 mosquito bed nets, $50 water filters, books, sewing machines and other things done with humanitarian grants. The Milwaukee Rotary Club is partnering with Engineers Without Borders and volunteers from MSOE to bring water initiatives to Guatemala and Haiti. The current project is the Chupoj Water project in Guatemala, a $100,000 Global grant. RCM has pledged $20,000 and Rick needs six other Rotary clubs to donate $4,500. The next trip is Feb/Mar, 2019.
