Club Assembly
April 25th: Please Note: Our meeting next week will be at: First United Methodist Church at 105 N Broad Street due to renovations at the library / community room this day.
June 2nd - Rotary Peacebuilding Thru Education and Literacy will be held in Chicago from 7:30 – 4:30. Contact John Henderson if you are interested in attending
June 15th – Golf Outing Fundraiser. We will need golfers and sponsors. We will also accept donations for various liquor items for the drawing – this is in lieu of raffle tickets this year. Sign up to play in the outing $85, sponsor a hole $100, sponsor a golf group $400, or make donations for the drawing. You can also attend the dinner and auction only for $30. This will be a Friday night fish fry at the outdoor pavilion.
Welcome! Anna Clara (AC) Jorgensen will be our exchange student from Denmark for the 2018-19 school year. She will be a junior and will be staying with the Rosendahl family and Tobie Watts-Green family. We are still looking for a third host family.
Tree Planting Update: We will be planting at the Elkhorn Area Middle School on Monday, April 23rd starting at 9:30. April 26th we will be planting trees at Kishwauketoe in Williams Bay.
Induction for Dawn, our upcoming club president, will be on June 20th .
Our high school scholarship winners will also be invited to attend this event. Finally, we will also be handing out the Community Service Award at this event. Nominations for this award will open soon.
As a club we will be sponsoring the Booster Club Concession Box with a donation of $750. An individual Rotarian also sponsored another $250.
Tickets for the Bluesfest, a fundraiser, are also available from Dawn. This event will be held on May 20th at the Monte Carlo Room. Already three bands are lined up to perform.
Tree Update
Rotary’s 2018 Goal is to have one tree planted for every Rotarian. The following are targeted locations for our tree planting: Middle School wetland area can host 10 trees, 23 trees will then be planted on Rotary Way later this fall. Kishwauketo has requested15 trees and10 trees are slated for Peterson Island Woods. Personal “back yard” trees and those planted on business properties can be counted toward the Rotarian tree count. Most of the trees being planted are 2-3 foo seedling, bare root trees. The board will discuss the additional funds needed, approx. $7,000 total, for the cost of the project. April 20th, April 21st , (Peterson Island Woods), and April 26th (Kishwauketo) are suggested dates for planting. Students will assist at the Middle School wetlands, which will provide a great PR opportunity. Rotarians leading this project include: Jerry Peterson and Colby Venema .
50th Anniversary - 2019
Dawn will begin planning for the 50th Anniversary of the club and is putting together a committee to assist. May 2019 is the target date.
Dancing with the Stars
Each area Rotary Club will be joining together for this fundraising event. September 21st is the event. This will include the dance “competition” with couples nominated from each community, basket silent auction, and car raffle. All area Rotary members will be asked to sell 10 tickets for the car raffle @ $20 a piece.
