Egle passed out Stir It Up tickets for all Rotary members to purchase/sell. If you write a check make it out to Elkhorn Rotary. Guests at today’s meeting included Jean Henderson, Nma Onuigbo from Nigeria, Lynn Dempsey from VIP, Jake from Seeds of Hope. Bill Campbell talked about our fundraiser at Culver’s for End Polio Day. It will be Wednesday, October 23, from 5-8:00 p.m. and we’ll receive 10% of the day’s profits. Karen, Kathy, and Egle volunteered to work with Bill.
Tom Oehler gave details on Stir It Up and asked for volunteer commitment. He passed around a sign-up sheet for those who can volunteer five hours (10:00-3:00) that day, November 3. Event is held 11:00-2:00 and this is the fifth year. Our Rotary Club gives a $2500 sponsorship to this event. Proceeds will go to these three causes: Open Arms dental building, Safe Families of SE Wisconsin, and New Beginnings. This was voted on by the entire club. Chris Aune talked about the restaurants participating; there are 20 so far, and passed around a sheet listing them. Entertainment for Stir It Up includes Badger High School in Lake Geneva, Elkhorn Area High School and Faith Christian School in Williams Bay. Restaurants and music ensembles are subject to change.
Nma Onuigbo spoke to the club about her experience with Rotary. She is traveling here from Nigeria and met Jean and John in Toronto. Rotary provides the basic need of friendship and fellowship, as well as business, fun and entertainment, and citizenship. It makes us better community citizens and connects us to people all over the world. She encouraged us to wear our Rotary pin out in the world.
Rotary End Polio Day at Culver's will be on Wednesday, October 23rd, from 5-8pm.
