Program: How to Toot Our Rotary Horn Bigger and Better
Welcome Ebony Ssali, Rotarian Public Image District Chair.
Today, Ebony Ssali, a public image district chair in charge of sharing the rotary brand throughout the state, presented to our organization. Ebony works to expand the media message regarding Rotary and the work done by Rotarians across the state. She is also working to make sure that the updated logo is in use as the “brand police”. She made us aware of the new “brand center” on line to assist with making brochures, flyers, or other appearances.
As the Public Image District Chair, Ebony Ssali’s 2018 goals are to strengthen the Rotary brand and create a greater awareness of Rotary. Publicity is important. To assist in this task, we need to take action. To do this, she has encouraged us to have a camera ready at events and activities, and share the good news via social media. This year’s Rotary hashtag is: #peopleofaction is this year’s hashtag . We are also continue to use the following hastags: #Rotary, #Elkhorn, and #Rotary6270. Connecting through social media will be a way to reach new members and share the work of our club with the community.
There are many “places” we can share the Rotary story: flyers, brochures, banners, social media, billboards, radio, television, online articles, newspapers, magazines, movie ads. To create a buzz, focus on television, newspapers, and hyper-local sites and always include a photo with a press release. We are encouraged to post a countdown to major events on social media, as well as share this information on the district page too. Sometimes other club members will look to support fundraisers in their area. Ebony Ssali is willing to assist our organization as we work to improve our district’s publicity. To get us started, she provided the club with a “news release” outline to assist us in communicating our message. Ebony reiterated that we are all responsible for public relations for our club.
For more information and resources: January 23rd at 6:30 p.m. on the district website there will be an online training for Rotary members to learn more about publicity that will be provided by Ebony Ssali.
