The Rotary Club of Elkhorn's BIGGEST community program is back for another year to bring joy and warmth to area children. It's Coats for Kids! This year, the event will be held on Saturdays, October 10th and November 14th at Jackson Elementary School from 11:00am-1:00pm.
The committee is looking for helpers to make it happen! Moving inventory, registration, and shopping assistants are all needed. No youth volunteers please to retain confidentiality for our youngest community members. Please contact President Kristin Belongia at elkhornrotarypresident@gmail.com for more information.

Signups begin this week for the District 6270 Foundation Dinner to celebrate all things Rotary! Highlights this evening will be the contributions of District 6270 and the good work of our District clubs and fellow Rotarians. The evening begins with a social hour and our new Showcase of Successful Grant-Funded Projects, completed by our clubs and supported by The Rotary Foundation. Following dinner, District 6270 will recognize contributions to the Rotary Foundation, present our annual Rotary District 6270 Agent of Peace Awards, and enjoy a sure-to-be-very-entertaining presentation by our very special guest, Rotary International Director Tom Gump.

The Rotary Youth Exchange Program, although formally recognized in 1975, has its origins dating back to the 1920s.
In 1927, Rotary International considered several youth exchange proposals but did not take any concrete action.
However, local clubs organized exchanges, particularly in Europe, fostering international ties.
In 1929, an international conference on these exchanges was held in Copenhagen. The program remained informal, but Rotary encouraged its local clubs to organize them.
In the 1960s, Rotary supported exchanges, but did not immediately formalize them.
Finally, in 1975, the program became a recognized activity of Rotary International, while still being managed by districts and local clubs.
The program’s primary objective is to foster peace, goodwill, and international understanding through youth exchanges.
Today, approximately 7,500 participants participate each year.
