Brian Iwicki mentioned that our original date for Shenanigans, January 31, conflicts with Winter Fest in Lake Geneva and they want to push it back to sometime in March, date to be determined. Brian was also asked by the Salvation Army if we wanted to ring the bell for several dates at the Walmart in Lake Geneva. This would be outside bell ringing. After discussion, the answer is no.
Tom Oehler talked about Stir It Up, 2019. Curt passed out a preliminary financial statement which showed a net revenue of $41,062 for the event. Tom reviewed all parts of Stir It Up for improvements and comments. Set up on Saturday went quickly and only took about two hours. Student help was excellent this year and we thanked Jon Anzalone for organizing that. Suggestion for next year to have students commit to a four hour shift, with two hours on Saturday to set up and two hours on Sunday for cleanup. Beverages- water was free and we ran out. We discussed whether to charge for water, like we do for soda, or to have a donation bucket at the water table. The silent auction raffle items were located in the middle of the room. Bill Campbell thought someone else in Rotary should take over his job with the raffle and could do a better job because we had lesser quality items this year. Ted did a good job as MC but would like to plug the vendors more. Tom recommended providing thank you cards to attendees/Rotarians so we could give them to the vendors the next time we go to their establishment. Greeters were fine. Parking as well, we only need two people outside, the signage was good. Comments that there was not enough handicapped parking available. Stacy suggested we have all volunteers park further away. This year we increased the price for preferred seating from $50 to $75 and we only had three people purchase tickets at that price. Bring the price back down next year. Other comments- have a second person who knows how to run the credit card machine at the ticket table, the sound system for the music is not great, not sure if more marketing is worth the money. We did not spend money on Facebook ads this year and attendance was negligible from last year.
Brian announced we will cancel the Rotary meeting on November 27, the day before Thanksgiving. When we have the Food Pantry here as our speaker in December, we will collect items for the food pantry then.
