ROTARY NOTES – 7/19/17
Anniversaries w/ Rotary:
John Henderson – 48 years
Tom Oehler – 16 years
Presenter: We welcomed Isaac Taylor a senior at EAHS and an aspiring Eagle Scout. He is working toward his Eagle Scout award and needs to complete an Eagle Project which would be to build an outdoor classroom at our Middle School.
He has collaborated with a teacher at the middle school and district administrators to create a plan for the outdoor learning area.
Basically, the area would include ten, five foot benches to accommodate a classroom. His plan integrates with the referendum to be near the walking path and prairies for those walking the trail. It would be near the marsh on higher ground, it would not have a shelter at this point.
The projected cost of the project will be $65 per bench, mulch for ground covering would be $150. Total cost for the outdoor classroom will be approx. $800. A free will “Rotary Bucket” collection of $246 was collected during the meeting to begin funding Isaac Taylor’s Eagle Scout Project.

Collaborative Committee Work
A thank you to all Rotarians for working in collaborative committees during the lunch hour to begin planning for future events and initiatives in the community. By holding this planning time periodically during the noon hour, we hope to increase involvement of all members. |
